Ministry of Altar Servers
Altar servers provide valuable ministry assistance at Masses, weddings, funerals, Stations of the Cross, and other liturgical services. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish needs committed, reverent servers to assist at the altar. Parents who are interested in having their children become altar servers are invited to contact the parish office. New server training will be conducted as needed.
Appreciation to Parents!
At Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, not only do we appreciate our servers, we also appreciate the parents, whose service and commitment is vital to their child's ministry. Servers and their parents help make our parish a true faith community. Truly our altar servers are “young friends of Jesus.” We ask parents to convey to their children the importance of serving God as an altar server.
Patron Saint of Altar Servers
St. John Berchmans, for whom the Diocese of Shreveport Cathedral is named, is the Patron Saint of Altar Servers. In sacred art and statues, young St. John is usually depicted wearing his black cassock and white surplice, and carrying his bible.
