The human person holds the capacity to be a minister of the Word of God through music. But, not only does music provide a wonderful means of expressing faith, it also has the power to "lead us to the Creator of all harmony, creating a resonance within us which is like being in tune with beauty and truth of God, with the reality which no human knowledge or philosophy can ever express” (Pope Benedict XVI). In the Catholic Church, the organ is accorded pride of place; however, other wind, stringed, and percussion instruments are also used in divine worship.
Here at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, we desire to deepen our relationships with God through the music of our sacred liturgies, to strengthen friendships and fellowship with other members of our parish, to grow in knowledge and appreciation of Catholic worship, and to be transformed through music and faithful discipleship in Jesus Christ.
Our Music Ministry would like to welcome new members who have a true desire to be of service to God and the church. Do you enjoy singing and/or playing musical instruments, and do you feel that you could make a regular commitment to rehearsals and liturgies? We are now recruiting volunteers to become part of our choir and Music Ministry. Contact our parish office for more information.
